An electrostatic coating, also referred to as powder coating, is a manufacturing process that employs charged particles to more efficiently paint an item. We drop the item into a tank of paint that is then electrostatically charged. The ionic bond of the paint to the metal creates the paint coating. Ladybug uses Akzo Chang Cheng Outdoor Environmental Products to electrostatically coat our outdoor furniture.
Nearly as durable as powder coating, the ionic bonds between the paint and the metal surface underneath it create a long-lasting surface that will stand up to use and the elements.
The electrostatic bond also helps to ensure a very smooth even coat without the runs, bubbles, or drips that can arise with traditional painting methods.
Because electrostatic painting ensures a transfer rate of 98% of the paint to the metal surface, it causes limited to no over spray. This efficiency means there are fewer volatile organic compounds (VOC's) released into the air. which translates into reduced air pollution,
